HISTORY

1979

Peter Hanan became the first juried artist to move into the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center in Laurel, MD.

One of his early projects was for the Montpelier Mansion which required an artisan from Prince George’s County to match existing walnut dining chairs. Peter was able to source local walnut to use in this custom project.

1980

Peter teamed up with Rick Lerner, a teaching colleague, to found Hanan & Lerner Fine Woodworking.

2012

Peter stepped into a consulting role as his son, Devin, took over the operations.

2013

H&L acquired Broadwater Woodworking which increased the capacity for more commercial work.
